THE
ENGINE
This
is what makes the V Max the most remarkable and desirable muscle bike of
all time. The
1198cc
V4 powerplant is feed by four 35mm downdraught Mikuni carburettors, but
even that's not
enough.
V Max is the only motorcycle in the world equipped with the advanced V-Boost
intake
system.
At
600rpm, a 32 butterfly valve located between the front and rear intake
manifolds begins to open.
This
simple yet extremely effective design allows each cylinder to draw air
from two carburettors
instead
of one.
The
design of the inlet system and the firing intervals of the V4 engine cause
inlet pulses to force
air-fuel
mixture into the cylinder, resulting in an immediate surge of power.
